2019 saw Shane build up a strong and loyal fanbase playing a number of high profile shows both at home in Ireland and abroad, including a slot at Glastonbury and a number of festivals throughout Europe.
2020 will see the release of Shane's much anticipated 2nd album. The album, entitled "The Desert & The Rain" sees Shane's songwriting jump to new heights and explore exciting new avenues as he puts down his acoustic guitar, picks up electric and is joined by an exeptional band of musicians. Bass, drums, lead electric, hammand organ, piano, string and brass sections are all featured heavily throughout the album. Of course mixed in with this new and energetic style of song will be songs that would still fit in perfectly with the emotional and epic ballads that can be found on his debut "The Sadness of King Joyce".
The first single from the new album is called "I Won't Run" and is set for release on March 6th 2020. This will be followed by two more, singles with the album, "The Desert & The Rain" scheduled for a late Summer release.
To go along with the single and album releases, Shane will be touring extensively throughout Ireland and Europe and taking a big leap forward with what is already a growing fanbase.
"The Sadness of King Joyce is a coming of age album by an artist equally proficient as a prophet of despair and hopelessness with dark and gothic tales as he is brewing up a storm in his other role as frontman with The Midnight Union Band. Its mix of expressionless and controlled vocals, sparse acoustic guitar and piano add to the atmosphere but what elevates the album is the exquisite strings that embrace and caress much of the material without ever dominating. A wonderful piece of work." Declan Culliton; Lonesome Highway
"It’s a foot tapping ditty that thrives on Joyce’s heartwarming songwriting. With a buoyant beat, warm guitar jangles and catchy cosy melody this track has an indie folk tone with a charming country outer shell sure to soothe the soul. With velvety vocals, clap along feature and scorching guitar solo Joyce presents a cheery number filled with passion and charisma. " Indie Buddie

"...a serious folk song-writer who, thankfully, has something to say." Remy's Music and Film
